151: Miniature by pahein 151: Miniature by pahein
>Edit: For size reference, the body (from the top to the bottom of its feet) is half an inch long. That fits on my thumbnail, people.

Edit Edit: Submitting to [link] ; hope it'll place. :meow:

This is the smallest thing I have ever made.

A Mew... carved from the lead of a Prismacolor pencil.

I'm crazy or stupid or both.

But it came out okay. I think.

I am absolutely floored by this. When I found out it was a Prisma I was even more amazed because even with excellent sharpeners and techniques I have learned I cannot often sharpen them without breaking the lead. I have no idea how you managed this. It is really cute, I love the wiggly, wavy tail. The details are excellent and gosh the size!! How on earth do you plan to preserve this so it does not break? Well done!:blackrose:

... Wellp, I covered it in crazyglue, but I've already lost a part of the tail. :XD: I got a good picture, though, and that's enough to keep me happy. If worse comes to worse, I might be able to carve another.

I actually rather enjoy the consistency of Prismacolor for pencil carving. They're soft enough that you don't have to use too much pressure for detail-y things, which, if utilized correctly, helps prevent breakage. Brittle things are harder to work with, not responding well to pressure.

Aww what a shame...but if it motivates you to carve another that is always good too! And good to know about Prismas for carving, maybe if I ever dare try this I will use one of my Prismas.:blackrose:

Generally-- and I have trouble following this mostly-- I have to carve from the top down, or it does snap. Far to easily. It gets annoying, so I'm getting better at carving top-down. >w> Thank you~
